Via my website I got an invitation from the Noordik College to help them with their charity project for a schoolproject for orphans in Uganda.
I love to do charity work so I went there. They had not told me what they exactly expected from me so that would be a surprise.
Well, the English language-department had organized a bingo for the second class students. The proceeds would go to the school in Uganda.
I brought in a Heracles Almelo-shirt (with my signature of course).
I proved out to be that I would be the Bingo Master of the day! It was my duty to select the bals from the bingo machine.
I had never ever done that before in my life, but is was really fun. They could have brought in a bigger machine with some bigger balls though. The numbers were a bit small :-)
And I guess I was not the only one enjoying myself because the boys and girls seemed to like playing my bingo also. The school had arranged lots of nice (little) prizes so many of them were lucky to win some. And winning meant also having a picture of them with me taken. Some of them seemed more happy with the picture then with their prize :-)
The final round was played for my jersey. Now most of them really got excited! They wanted that shirt. The tension mounted and finally Daan won the final round and got my Heracles Almelo-shirt.
This meant that the bingo had come to an end but it wasn't the end: the boys and girls didn't let me go home yet: most of them wanted my signature so I got my pen and started signing...
When finally everyone had his/her signature my bingo career got to an end. And I must say I really liked it.
As from their reactions it seemed the students and their teachers liked the bingo too!
In the end we can all be a bit proud of ourselves raising some money for Uganda!

While our captain Antoine van der Linden was out supsended I was Heracles Almelo-captain for the first time! To make it even better we beat NAC Breda in our first home match of the season, 2-1.
